The absence of information to guide the viewer of Fortune Teller is conspicuous. The work refers to the origami paper game of chance that is used to predict the participants’ future. The repetition of form and the lack of any messaging invests the objects with a role open to speculation and endless possibilities. All these fortune-tellers appear to be the exact same object with the same message: nothingness. The process of cartomancy these objects are designed to encourage is thus reduced to a form of interpretation that allows the viewer to see nothing and everything at the same time.
